"Free Lunch"?
As the old saying goes, "There's no such thing as a free lunch." There have been many stories in the newspapers and on TV about these so-called "Free Lunch" seminars. Allegations of these events turning into high-pressure sales tactics and misleading claims abound. Unfortunately, some are true.
Charles Hackett says, "I have always been very clear about why I do seminars. At the beginning of each one I tell my guests, "I hold these workshops as a way to market my company as a way of attracting new clients." But I also say that "my approach does not work for everyone." When you attend one of my workshops you will be informed, entertained, and in most cases you'll leave knowing more than when you came in the door. You may learn of things that need your attention. If that's the case you will be offered a free consultation. What you do from there is entirely up to you. As a “thank you” for listening to what I have to say, many times a free meal is offered.
But the message is this: If you know your future or that of your family could be in jeopardy by not taking some action... you might want to do something! Whether it's with me, an attorney, your own advisor, or an insurance agent doesn't matter. What does matter is that you find a qualified professional that you trust to assist you. If you can’t find anyone you trust perhaps you will do it yourself… or simply do nothing.
People end up coming to me after these workshops because they appreciate my approach, or know they need to act on an area that I covered. If you attend any seminar (including mine) and feel as though you are being pressured into doing something against your will, please report it to the proper authorities. There are plenty of honest men and women doing them for the right reasons. Those are the people you want to find and work with."
